Nicole’s legal practice focuses on advising businesses and individuals regarding General Corporate, Commercial Litigation, Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy, Estate Planning, Administrative, Regulatory and Compliance matters. Prior to joining the Burton Law Office, she practiced at a large firm in Lexington, concentrating on business litigation, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy matters. Additionally, she worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky serving as Director for Non-depository Financial Institutions and the Public Protection Cabinet as a Deputy Executive Director of Legal Services.

Nicole has served as a member of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) (2010-2012), Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) (2010-2012), Money Services Business Task Force Member (2011-2012), National Association of Consumer Credit Administrators (NACCA) (2010-2012). She was a featured speaker for the May 15, 2012 Fayette CountyBar Association CLE Ethics Seminar “Social Media Communications, Technology and Legal Ethics Rules.”

Nicole received an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in Securities and Financial Regulation, a Juris Doct degree Cum Laude from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison University. Nicole is Licensed to practice law in Kentucky (2000) and the District of Columbia (2002); U.S. District Court of Kentucky (Eastern District, 2001, and Western District, 2002) and U.S. Supreme Court (2005). Her community involvement includes: The NEST Center for Women, Children and Families, Executive Board Member (2012-present), Georgetown University Alumni Undergraduate Interviewer (Kentucky) (2012-present), The Girl Scouts of America (Troop Leader) 2013-present, Pi Beta Phi Sorority Alumni, Executive Board Philanthropy Liason (Lexington, Kentucky) (2012-present).
